updating to the now

I thought since I started this blog thingy a little late, I would update to try to get to "the now". This blog will just contain pictures of pregnancy, sonograms, etc. I was fortunately a pretty lucky pregnant lady. I didn't have morning sickness except for once (orange juice), I didn't swell or get the puffy nose, no face rash, I just got HUGE, that's all. I will leave out how much weight I gained, honestly, I don't really care. I loved Keebler cheesecake middle cookies, hummus, and had a food aversion to any pork. I craved salty rather than sweet (all of the wives tales say that meant I was having a girl and we did). Jade Rebekah Pickett was born 7/19/2010 at 4:17 pm. She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20.75 inches long. My first reaction was "oh dear, look at her head." (she had the cone head from being in the birth canal for so long), but it was the most beautiful cone head I'd ever seen !!
She looks exactly the same

Better late than never

Well, here I am beginning a blog. I am a follower of a few of my friends' blogs so I thought... why not start my own. This way, my distant relatives and close friends alike can see what "we 3 picketts" are up to. I'll start with a background and update as I go. As most of you know, we had some fertility issues about a year ago. After seeing a nutritionist and a fertility specialist, my ovary family decided to cooperate. I will never forget.... Danny and I had been in Granbury visiting my parents and on our way back to Fort Worth, we decided to stop into Lone Star Oyster Bar and have a few beverages on the patio. Nothing tasted good to me.. I tried my usual bourbon and 7-up, a refreshing cape cod, and nothing sounded appetizing except for SLEEP! I told Danny, " I think I might be pregnant." Danny's immediate response is, "Don't get your hopes up. Everyone always tells you that. You could have a toothache at work and someone would say how common a toothache is during pregnancy." So we made it an early night and went home. Having a stock of pregnancy tests, I woke up the next morning (probably afternoon once I actually rolled out of bed), and took the digital test. You ladies know what I mean, the 5 minutes seems like 30. But there it was, with beautiful digital letters.."pregnant". I didn't get too excited because of our previous experience. We immediately called our parents and close friends. and that's it. Until we went to the doctor. Anywho, I think this is a good starting point.
